A loving parent doesn't hand a child a jig saw puzzle as a punishment. Rather it is a tool for the child to learn how to enjoy the process of figuring something out, putting it together, and seeing the bigger picture and when it's done, a sense of accomplishment.
Funny how I often get handed a piece of life that is a little like a jigsaw puzzle and I get all upset like I have been sentenced. That instead of it just being an opportunity to play and explore, I get all judgmental and think life is giving me a "Lesson". I must have been bad to deserve the homework!
Today I am grateful that my life lessons are really just a chance to figure it out, see a new and bigger picture, get a sense of accomplishment and to have some fun along the way!
