Default Jumps, bumps, and startlings while during a reiki session

Many practitioners will experience this at some point. A client jumping, jerking or being startled during an energy (Reiki) session. Recently a student wrote in asking about it during an email and here is the answer, or rather my theory based on my experience.

Many people are easily spooked and it can simply be a matter of trust. However it's often the treatment releasing a great deal of emotion on the non verbal level. Think of it this way, it's just vibration that is shifting and escaping, sort of like gas escaping from the earth. This process can be startling to the persons consciousness and bring them out of a deep relaxed state, many times though the person will stay deep and a hand or foot will just twitch, pop, or unwind.

Energy is more comfortable when it's feeling that bubbles forward into awareness and then into consciousness where it can be analyzed and spoken of. This is the energy before it is feeling and it just sort of bubbles up and out so fast it can't really be processed by the conscious mind. Not being able to name something can be really upsetting to some people. Letting go of the need to name something in order to heal can often speed up the recovery process especially when one is dealing with post traumatic stress. If something has to be named so a person can heal, it will slow down and stick around. If it rockets out of the body and is released it should be let go.

The healing process of releasing trapped vibration is one of the reasons someone will get on your table, to release on an energetic level that is deeper than the pure emotional level that can be spoken and analyzed. A few Reiki treatments often expedite the talk therapy process allowing the client to then concentrate on the issues that must be named and processed in order for them to move forward.

Blessings

Default Remote Energy Work

Received a request from a client for remote energy work ... my client and i chose a date & agreed upon the $$ terms; however - he would like to know the 'specific' time of day ... is a 'specific' time something that needs to be agreed-upon for successful remote energy work?

Default RE: Remote Energy Work

What agreat question! When doing a remote session on a client I will often do it with them while on the phone. I lead them trough a meditation to relax them and sort of talk them through where, what and how I am using the energy to treat them. I also can at that time, or at the end, verbally discuss anything that I saw or felt during the session. This can be really wonderful for a lot of my clients who are also intuitives and interested in energy work. I start most of my readings in this fashion.

Some of my clients don't want to be on the phone and I usually just ask them what time they will be laying down for bed. Then I do my work at that time it's a great addition to my evening meditation practice. Actually it sort of forces me to have an evening meditation practice.

For anyone paying me to perform service for them, I think it's a great idea to let them know when that service is being performed.

They do not have to be laying down or even relaxed for the treatment to be succesful. However I think it's a good idea. Besides it often gives the person to lay down for a bit and de-stress and that is always a good idea!

Here is my loosy goosey variance clause:
For friends & clients who I have permission to work on at any time for any reason. I just do it whenever. However at the beginning of the session I am always diligent about making sure that seems or feels like the right time.

For example, one time in a Reiki 2 class we went to work on Tere M. and every single person in the class sort of stopped working on her two minutes into the remote session. They were like, "what was her problem?" Turns out at that specific time she was not open because she was in a very tough meeting and couldn't have herself pulled from focus. Every person who tried to connect with her got a big "NO" this is not right. It was a great confirmation for the group. Luckily I have a hand full of people with open permission so we moved on to the next on the list.

Default Remote Energy Work

Thanks Matthew; this was (& is) very helpful and i will definitely take these ideas into consideration the next time i 'book' ... just seems somewhat odd to 'schedule' energy, but as you stated - it makes sense with a paying $$ client!

Default Difficult Remote Session

Had a bit of trouble getting through remotely to a client - we agreed on a specific timeframe, and didn't end-up entirely connecting. I realize that we all have the ability (& the right) to 'place wall' around ourselves ... but my confusion/concern lies in that it was an agreed-upon timeframe and i was still only able to made a partial connect. ... any thoughts? suggestions?

You know this might be a thing with your client. How many of us out there have asked for help, but never really allowed the help in? It might be more telling about your client than about your techniques. If you showed up with sincerity at the agreed upon time, then you keep your end of the bargain.

I would gently point out that you felt a block from them, and see if that sparks a dialog. The treatment may still have been 100% effective and this is just part of the communication from his spirit letting you know he isn't 100% all in, when it comes to him receiveing help.
